This question was asked of our Bible study group through the book we’re now studying: “What does Jesus want from me?” I left that night still turning those words over in my mind. My brain knows the answer is so simple, yet my heart wrestles to fully believe it. I believe that’s true of all women.
Simple answer: He wants you. Not the polished version. Not the version that looks like you have it all together. He wants you — with your beauty and your brokenness, your strength and your struggle, your joy and your tears.
But as women, we wrestle with this more than we admit. We don’t usually offer Jesus ourselves. We offer Him the version we think is acceptable. The version we’ve edited. The version we’ve filtered. The version we’ve tried to make look “good enough.”
Because somewhere along the way, we learned to see our flaws before we see our beauty. We learned to judge ourselves through the lens of today’s trends, commercials, social media, and impossible standards. We compare our bodies, our faces, our homes, our lives — and in our own minds, we come up short. We forget that the world profits from our insecurity, but Jesus heals it.
He isn’t asking for the woman who looks like she stepped out of a magazine. He isn’t asking for the woman who never doubts, never struggles, never breaks. He isn’t asking for the woman who meets culture’s definition of “beautiful.”
He wants you — the real you.
The you who thinks she’s not enough.
The you who sees her flaws more than her strengths.
The you who has believed lies about her worth.
The you who has been shaped by pressure, comparison, and criticism.
He wants you with your beauty and your brokenness. Because He loves you that much.
Jesus sees the parts of you you’ve tried to hide — and calls them redeemable. He sees the beauty you overlook — and calls it intentional. He sees the woman you are becoming — and calls her beloved.
And when you finally give Him you, you begin to discover something sacred — He has been waiting for you with a love that does not flinch at your flaws, a love that does not shrink back from your story, a love that does not compare you to anyone else. His love is steady. Personal. Intentional. It is the kind of love that sees the whole landscape of your life and still says, “You are worth it.”
This is where the healing begins — not in striving, not in performing, not in trying to meet the world’s shifting standards — but in resting. Resting in the truth that Jesus delights in the woman He created. Resting in the truth that He calls you beautiful even on the days you don’t feel it. Resting in the truth that He gathers every broken piece of your heart and holds it with care, not criticism.
He wants the woman who has tried her best and the woman who feels like she’s failing.
He wants the woman who is confident and the woman who is questioning everything.
He wants the woman who is still learning how to love herself.
He wants the woman who wonders if she’s too much or not enough.
He wants you — fully, deeply, endlessly.
And when you let Him have you — the real you — something shifts.
You begin to see yourself through His eyes instead of the world’s eyes. You begin to loosen your grip on the lies you’ve carried for years. You begin to breathe again. You begin to believe again. You begin to become the woman He always knew you could be.
Because Jesus doesn’t just want you…
He cherishes you.
He chooses you.
He calls you His.
So when that question rises again — “What does Jesus want from you?” — let your heart whisper the answer with a new kind of confidence, a new kind of softness, a new kind of freedom:
He wants me.
All of me.
Just as I am.
And in His hands… I am finally enough.
