Remember this: God puts you in a position, but He never expects you to be perfect.

That truth has been sitting heavy on my heart lately, especially as I watch a dear friend step into a brand‑new job. It’s a blessing she prayed for, hoped for, and waited for — but it’s also a role that comes with a learning curve that feels more like a steep climb than a gentle walk. It isn’t the kind of job you “pick up in a few days.”  It’s layered, detailed, and full of responsibilities that require time, patience, and grace. And right now, she’s feeling the weight of it.

She’s learning so much at once, trying to absorb information that doesn’t yet feel natural, and she’s starting to feel inadequate — like she’s not getting it fast enough, like she’s somehow behind, like maybe she’s not cut out for it. But those feelings aren’t coming from truth. They’re coming from the enemy’s whispers, the subtle lies that creep in when we’re vulnerable, tired, or stretched. The devil loves moments like this — new beginnings, fresh blessings, open doors — because they’re tender places. He loves to slip in and steal joy before we even settle into what God has given us. He plants doubts, insecurity, and fear, hoping we’ll forget the very thing God already confirmed. 

The truth is, inadequacy is almost never a reflection of our ability. It’s a reflection of spiritual distraction. The enemy wants her…you — every woman, every man, every person reading this — to question the blessing. He wants you to feel overwhelmed instead of grateful, defeated instead of determined, insecure instead of anchored. He wants you to forget that God doesn’t place you in positions because you’re perfect — He places you there because He sees what you can’t yet see.

He knows what He’s growing.
He knows what He’s shaping.
He knows what He’s preparing.
And He knows that the very place you feel unsure is the place He intends to strengthen.

Sometimes the greatest responsibility comes not from the job itself, but from the knowledge we’re learning along the way. Growth stretches us. Stretching feels uncomfortable. But discomfort is often the sign that God is expanding something inside us — our confidence, our endurance, our trust, our dependence on Him. 

And maybe this isn’t just about one person. Maybe it’s about all of us who have stepped into something new and felt the tremble of uncertainty. Maybe it’s about those moments when we look back and wonder where our gifts could have taken us, or how our talents might have unfolded if life had gone differently.

But God doesn’t waste timing. He doesn’t waste experience. He doesn’t waste any part of our story. Every skill, every talent, every moment we thought was random — He weaves it together and brings it forward exactly when it’s needed.

So if you’re reading this and you’re in a season of learning, stretching, or stepping into something unfamiliar, hear this clearly: God isn’t asking you to be perfect. He’s asking you to be willing. He’s asking you to stay open. He’s asking you to trust that He placed you exactly where you are — not because you already know everything, but because He will teach you everything you need to know. 

Here’s the gentle truth —for anyone standing in a new season:
You are not in this position by accident.
You are not learning alone.
You are not behind.
You are not failing.
You are being shaped, strengthened, guided, and prepared.

The God who opened the door is the same God who will teach you how to walk through it. May His peace quiet every lie. May His wisdom steady every step. And may His presence remind you that you are exactly where He wants you — growing, learning, becoming, and shining in His image.
