Lessons on Day 7

This morning, a little childhood song drifted back into my mind — one many of us grew up singing: “I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord.”

There was such a sweet, innocent joy in those words. And honestly, that joy still matters just as much today.

Sunday is special. God knew we needed a day to slow down, breathe, and rest. But He also knew we needed a day to return to Him — to worship, to refocus, and to let Him refill what the week has drained from us.

When we step into His house, or even sit quietly with Him at home, something shifts. Strength rises. Courage steadies. Fear softens. Peace settles in. God designed this day because He knew life would get heavy, and we’d need a place to lay our burdens down and pick up His joy again.

Sunday gives us space to look back — remembering how He guided us, protected us, and carried us through. And it helps us look ahead, choosing to keep fighting the good fight with His strength, not our own.

The Sabbath is truly a gift: a holy pause in the middle of our busy, noisy lives.

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy… For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth… but He rested on the seventh day.”

— Exodus 20:8,11

And as we leave this day of rest, we carry our worship with us. Not just the songs we sing on Sunday, but the heart behind them. The peace, the gratitude, the closeness to God — all of it can follow us into the week. Into our homes. Our work. Our conversations. Even our quiet moments.

Worship isn’t just for Sunday. It’s something we live out every day, in every little thing we do.
