There are moments in friendship when God lets you glimpse something sacred—something so honest and Spirit‑touched that you know you’re standing on holy ground. Recently, my dear friend and sister in Christ shared one of those moments.
While attending a conference in Alaska, the Lord gave her an “aha” moment that reached deep into the hidden places of her heart. In a whisper only God could orchestrate, she realized she was still carrying “grave clothes” she should have laid down long ago—old identities, old lies, old burdens that no longer belonged to a daughter of the Lord God, our King.
Her vulnerability stirred something in me. It reminded me how easily we, too, can hold on to things Jesus has already freed us from. And it made me pause… because this season has a way of doing that.
As Easter draws near, I find myself thinking about the way God works long before we ever see the evidence. He moves ahead of us, preparing things we don’t even know we’ll need, shaping our hearts in ways we don’t always recognize in the moment.
When Jesus stepped out of the tomb, He didn’t carry the grave clothes with Him. He left them behind—folded, finished, done. And in that single act, He showed us what resurrection really means. Not just life after death, but newness after sorrow. Strength after weakness. Hope after seasons that felt like wilderness.
And He didn’t leave us to figure out this new life on our own. Jesus gave us His Helper—the Holy Spirit. The One who walks with us, nudges us, comforts us, convicts us, and empowers us. The One who works in the background of our days, even when we’re unaware. The One who prepares our hearts for what God is getting ready to do.
Sometimes we don’t realize He’s been working until we look back and see how things shifted… how our hearts softened… how clarity came… how strength rose up in places that once felt empty. That’s the beauty of the Holy Spirit—He is always moving, always preparing, always leading us toward the newness Jesus purchased for us the moment He left those grave clothes behind.
As we step into this Easter season, I want to come with a heart that’s ready. Ready to remember the weight of the crucifixion, yes—but also ready to celebrate the hope of resurrection. Ready to embrace the new things God is stirring. Ready to walk in the empowerment that was given to us through Jesus’ victory.
Because resurrection wasn’t just an event. It was an invitation.
An invitation to leave behind what no longer belongs to us.
An invitation to walk in the power of the Spirit.
An invitation to trust that God is already ahead of us, preparing the way.
An invitation to expect newness—real, Spirit-breathed newness—in our lives.
Scripture for reflection:
“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.” — Romans 8:11 (NLT)
And maybe that’s the part we forget most easily. The same Spirit who raised Christ is the One who breathes renewal into us today. He is the One who whispers hope into places we thought were finished. He is the One who leads us out of old patterns and invites us into freedom.
So to every woman who is longing for renewal…
To every heart hoping for a fresh start…
To every soul craving freedom, healing, or a reminder that God still has more for you…
Get ready.
A movement is beginning.
God is stirring something ahead of us.
Something meant to speak life, awaken hope, and call us into the newness Jesus secured when He left His grave clothes behind.
Stay expectant.
Stay open.
Stay ready for what God is preparing — because He always goes before us, and He is already at work.
To God be the glory!
